Location: Kodiak, Alaska Title: Site Superintendent Schedule (FT/PT): Temporary Full Time Travel Required: Yes (100%) Clearance: Ability to Obtain North Wind Site Services is focused on providing engineering, program management, environmental remediation services including investigation and characterization, environmental restoration, unexploded ordnance/military munitions response (MMRP), regulatory public involvement services, environmental compliance, logistics, and records and facility management.
POSITION PURPOSE: The Site Superintendent is responsible for ensuring project personnel are sufficiently trained and qualified to execute assigned construction projects and tasks and for assessing and reporting progress to the Project Manager.
Responsible for the supervision of all field activities, in-house and subcontract laborers, and coordinating site logistics.
Routinely assess work activities to ensure tasks are performed in accordance with the requirements detailed in the specifications and Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
Ensure equipment is inspected, meets APP safety requirements and is adequate to meet the intended function and requirements for the project.
The Site Superintendent (SS) will perform the following: authority to stop work for conditions adverse to quality or safety; Provide day-to-day technical execution of on-site project activities; direct project field activities to safely execute work in accordance with the APP, work scope, and schedule; provide supervision of project personnel and subcontractors; ensure equipment and other project resources are in working order and comply with the APP.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Generates, secures, or otherwise confirms all information needed to create, monitor, and modify the construction progress schedule on a continuing basis Gives input regarding project construction estimates for future work Work daily with the project manager, contractor quality control manager (QCM), and site safety and health officer (SSHO).
Assists with developing the progress schedule with the Project Manager, Project Controls, or Operations Manager Participates in scope reviews of the various construction bid packages to properly coordinate their respective interfaces and ensure nothing has been missed Works with the Project Manager to develop and administer the site utilization program, site services, security arrangements, and other facilities and arrangements necessary for appropriate service to the construction effort Monitors actual versus required performance by all parties Complete oversight of all subcontractors ensuring workforce size, hours worked, equipment, etc.
is sufficient to support contract requirements Establishes a punch list and close-out procedures for construction milestones Ensures all subcontracts, material purchases, submittals, deliveries, clarifications, and changes are processed on time and comply with contract requirements Assists with procuring long lead time items and monitors progress and receipt to ensure schedule compliance Prepares daily reports, job diaries, narratives, and all other documentation as determined by the company and by the project needs Performs job site inspections for compliance with plans and specifications, and coordinating with quality and safety.
Communicates and supports a proactive culture of Quality and Safety Coordinates with the SSHO to Implement site safety and emergency plans ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other duties as are appropriate and as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Must possess a high school diploma Must possess at least five (5) years of relevant construction experience on medium to large US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects.
Must possess at least seven (7) years of relevant construction experience.
Must possess at least five (5) years of relevant construction experience of similar size and complexity $5-20M with at least five (5) years as a Superintendent for USACE construction projects.
Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Course Skills and Abilities: Ability to prepare 3-week look ahead construction schedules, and support preparatory, initial, and follow-up phasing for the government Quality Control requirements.
Ability to coordinate with subcontractors and craft labor personnel to maintain schedule and budget.
Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, schedules and construction documents.
Must possess a working knowledge of Adobe Pro, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
High level proficiency of written and verbal communication required.
Must be well organized and be able to work independently with minimal direction.
Must have a good understanding of applicable construction laws for local, state, and federal regulatory requirements in Alaska.
Understand and experience in horizontal and vertical construction, specifically including USACE construction projects.
Special Requirements: Must possess OSHA 10 and 30-hour Construction Health and Safety Certification, current within the last 3 years.
Valid Driver's License.

Must be willing to travel.
Projects may be located in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or other Alaska locations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a superintendent for USACE construction projects is highly desirable.
Some college credit in construction management or other technical disciplines is desirable.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
The position will include prolonged periods of sitting in order to perform administrative duties.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The position will require work to be performed indoors and outdoors.
The employee will be exposed to various weather conditions.
Other hazards include, but are not limited to working near heavy equipment, noise hazards, chemicals, cleaning products, asbestos, lead based paint, contaminated soils and road traffic.
