Job Objective:
The Maintenance Electrician will be responsible for performing a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation,
maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
Primary Tasks: Installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment including installation and maintenance of variable speed motors Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment Using a variety of electrician’s hand tools and measuring and testing instruments Accurately completing all required documentation All other duties assigned by Management Competencies: Positive Attitude/Enthusiasm Diversity/interpersonal Skills Attendance/Punctuality/Dependability Teamwork/Integrity Required Education, Skills and Experience: Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent Must be able to clearly communicate in the English Language (read and write) Must possess a Journeyman Electrical License that can be transferred to State of Alaska within six (6) months of employment Must be able to work independently Must have good documentation and organizational skills Must be able to respond to calls for work outside of normal working hours Knowledge of acceptable practices of occupational safety and health regulations Experience and proficiency in reading and understanding wiring schematics, machine and equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and blueprints Occasional duties will include assisting and performing general electrical maintenance Must be able to perform work at heights, for example use of a bucket truck Other relevant duties assigned by Management Preferred: Five (5) years experience in the field as an Electrician Experience with Allen-Bradley (CompactLogix and SLC500), PLCs, PanelView Plus HMIs, Industrial Communication Networks (Ethernet, DH+, etc.
) Experience with FactoryTalk programs Strong mechanical aptitude Fire alarm system electrical maintenance Commercial Drivers License Class (B) Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.

Work Environment: Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Environments will include a variety of working conditions performed in an outside setting or in mechanic spaces with exposure to extremes for heat and cold.
Work environments include, but are not limited to, multiple types of housing units, industrial facilities such as, wastewater treatment plants and sewage lift stations, performing work outside in the field.
Successful applicant will be expected to perform work at heights in a bucket truck.
Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Additional Qualifying Factors As a condition of employment, will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base.
Having reliable transportation to/from work is a necessity and must be able to have access to military installations.
Must be able to drive a company vehicle and be insured Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance necessary Must comply with all company policies Condition of Employment “Pursuant to the Company’s collective bargaining agreement with the Teamsters Local 959 Union, it shall be a condition of employment to work in this bargaining unit position to become and remain a member in good standing with the Union or pay an agency fee to the Union.
