PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Constructs, repairs, and maintains wooden structures such as furniture, equipment, partitions and other parts of buildings, using hand and power tools as assigned.
Assists with general maintenance activities as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Customer Service oriented focus.
Highly attentive to detail and follow up tasks.
Must have attended a trade school, on the job training or attended at least a 4 year carpenter apprenticeship program.
5-10 years of carpentry experience may be substituted for training or apprenticeship program.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills with blueprint reading, mathematics, carpentry, finish carpentry, drywall repair, painting, woodworking, repairing and maintaining windows, door and door hardware.
Must have a current Alaska Driver’s License,
Ability to operate a forklift, bobcat, front-end loader and snowplow truck.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Obtain a hazardous painting certificate within one year of hire.
Complete nationally recognized Locksmith level 1 Training within one year of hire.
Ability to communicate with department managers on office moves and minor remodeling of workspaces and to communicate with vendors to obtain materials for remodeling projects.
Carpenter / Locksmith Level II (Wage grade + 5%)
Completion of nationally recognized Locksmith Level II training
Increases security level access & supply purchasing ability (from vendors)
Carpenter / Locksmith Level III (Wage grade +10%)
Completion of nationally recognized Locksmith Level III training
Increases security level access & supply purchasing ability (from vendors)
