The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions,
is recruiting for an Adult Probation Officer 1/2A for the Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC) located in Seward, Alaska.

com) What you will be doing: Adult Probation Officers are responsible for supervising a caseload of adult felony offenders who are under the jurisdiction of the Superior court or District Courts of Alaska and have been remanded to the custody and care of the Department of Corrections.
Maintain case files (requires case management skills), including entry to the Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS).
This includes preparing / updating an offender management plan (OMP) for each offender.
Complete annual classification paperwork, conduct classification hearings, and complete furlough (half-way house) paperwork for prisoners who are eligible and appropriate for housing in Community Residential Centers.
Prepare discretionary and mandatory parole packets for the Alaska Board of Parole and prepare prisoners for release into the community, to include ensuring prisoners have complied with DNA requirements, Sex Offender Registration with the Department of Public Safety and Victim Notification.

gov As part of the personal history, applicants will be required to submit copies of the following documents: Certified Highschool/GED transcripts (must be received directly from certifying institution and show date of graduation) Birth certificate or valid passport HS Foreign Equivalency Evaluation, if applicable Naturalization certificate, if applicable DD-214 form, if applicable (must show date and type of discharge and reason for separation narrative for all periods of service in each branch of the military, such as the DD-214 Long Form and NGB-22 Form) Military Evaluations, if applicable Upon successfully passing screening criteria, qualified candidates will receive a job offer that is conditional.
The conditional job offer is contingent upon the applicant completing and passing: a background investigation, drug screening, medical examination, and psychological evaluation.
The medical examination requirement will be coordinated and paid for by the Department.
All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of these requirements.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED This position is flexibly staffed.
This vacancy may be filled at either the 1 or 2A level, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience.
The salary range is identified at the top of this notice and depends on the experience of the selected candidate(s).
Starting salary will be determined by the level at which the position is hired.
If filled at level 1, promotion to the level 2A will occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, as well as the applicant meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher job class.
PREA NOTIFICATION The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including, but not limited to, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders.
PREA standards preclude the department from hiring or promoting anyone who has engaged in, or been convicted of any conduct which would violate PREA standards related to sexual assault including: Sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution.
Convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above.
EDUCATION If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application.

Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR FOREIGN EDUCATION Education completed in foreign colleges, universities, or high schools may be used to meet the minimum qualifications listed above.
If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.
S.
education programs; or an accredited U.
S.
post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution or high school.
It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
WORK EXPERIENCE If using work experience in your Applicant Profile, you must also provide the employer's name, your job title, dates of employment and whether full or part-time.
Applicant Profiles will be reviewed to determine if the responses are supported, and Minimum Qualifications are clearly met.
If they are not, the applicant may not advance to the interview and selection phase of the recruitment.

A "misdemeanor crime of domestic violence" is an offense that is (1) a misdemeanor under Federal or state law; and (2) has, as an element, the use or attempted use of physical force, or the threatened use of a deadly weapon, committed by a current or former spouse, parent, or guardian of the victim, by a person with whom the victim shares a child in common, by a person who is cohabiting with or has cohabited with the victim as a spouse, parent, or guardian, or by a person similarly situated to a spouse, parent, or guardian of the victim.

CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS).
A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS.
DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice.
Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
