DUTIES:
This position is in pay status during the Golf Course season of April through November.
Incumbent is then placed on leave without pay status for months of December-March.
Directly responsible for the operation and maintenance of a golf course, which includes minimum nine holes, fairways, greens, practice areas and driving ranges.
Responsible for providing technical advice and equipment.
Coordinates schedules, conducts tournaments and special events and may instruct member golfers.
Operates a Pro Shop to include retail, rentals and food and beverage operation.
Plans, organizes work, and manages internal resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies.
Prepares financial plans, budgets, inventories, cost controls, and related records and reports.
Reviews the financial status of the assigned activity and recommends changes considered necessary.
Supervisors Cashiers and Greenskeeper positions.
Trains employees, plans work schedules, appraises performances, counsels assigned personnel, and recommends personnel actions.
Effectively supports the Coast Guards Equal Employment Opportunity policy, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, security, sanitation, hazardous material handling and other environmental issues.
Must be alert to alcohol abuse and take appropriate action.
Maintains and enforces security for funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste, and abuse.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy.
Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.
Acknowledges customers, smiles, and makes eye contact.
Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems.
Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services.

Alerts the MWR Business Manager for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Minimum Qualifications: 1.
Three years’ experience that demonstrates professional knowledge of golf course operations to include retail, personnel procedures, and course maintenance.
2.
Experience working with chemicals used on fungi and insects as well as weed and bush control.
3.
Knowledge of safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations, to include matters relating to chemicals, spray, and other agents.
4.
Required to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
5.
Knowledge of computer programs such as excel, word, and outlook.
6.
Skill to supervise employees in accomplishment of work.
7.
This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the minimum): Experience with Alaska environmental challenges.
