Just two hours South of Anchorage, our camp is located on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula; where fishing, hiking, backpacking, climbing, and more are at your fingertips.
If you love adventure and want to build an inclusive and loving community at our camp, this is a perfect job for you! PROGRAM OVERVIEW Program: Camp K is an ACA Accredited Summer Residential Youth Co-ed Camp.
Location: Camp K is located in Copper Landing, AK on Kenai Lake.
Dates: All Staff training begins mid-May.
Camp opens to youth in early June and runs through early August.
Time: Camp K offers several sessions throughout the summer ranging from 4 days to 9 days.
Staff Shifts: Camp K staff reside on camp premises during all camp sessions.
Camp sessions range from 4 days/3 nights to 9 days/8 nights throughout the summer.
There is personal time between sessions to enjoy the beautiful Alaska Summer.
Activities: While at Camp K youth are provided hiking, boating activities, outdoor games, art building, target sports, outdoor living skills and team building.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Lead Teen Counselor will work with other Leadership staff to assist the Camp K Summer Program Coordinator in the planning, facilitation, and supervision of camp program.
You'll have a great opportunity to build experience managing and running Camp K’s LiT (Leaders in Training) program for teens ages 15+.
The Lead Teen Counselor supervises counselors and specialized program areas, playing a key role in planning and presenting staff orientation, large group events, and special programs.
You'll actively promote, encourage, and demonstrate Kid Sized Values of caring, striving, and thriving and collaborate with other Camp Leadership to identify camp needs, develop/implement successful programming, and take part in the evaluation of programs.
You will reside on the premises of Camp during the summer season in the Chugach National Forrest with everyday opportunities to be off the grid, experience wildlife, and take in the epic beauty right outside your cabin door! .
QUALIFICATIONS Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
Must have previous experience in teen program administration, preferably in a residential camp setting.
Minimum of one (1) year prior experience in staff supervision and management, is preferred.
Current Adult/Pediatric CPR, AED & First Aid Certification from a nationally recognized provider, required.
Wilderness First Aid (required) certification or ability to attend a certification course once hired (WFA will be offered during pre-camp training through Camp Fire) If 21+, valid Driver’s License and eligibility to drive agency vehicles with ability to drive and maneuver 16 passenger vans and trailer in tow, is preferred.
